A Minikahda Halloween

For Halloween this year, I was happy to be able to take photos at the Minikahda Club for their Charlie Brown themed Halloween party. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many adorable kids in one spot in my life!  The staff were pretty cute, too!  Hahahah!

This little girl loved Linus in the pumpkin patch.

The sunset was amazing!  (Linus thinks so, too!)

Some of the kids not only dressed up, but played the parts as well. :)

I hope you all had a great Halloween!

Japanese Lantern Festival at Como Conservatory

Last Sunday, my hubby and I went to Como’s Japanese Lantern Festival, also known as Obon. The Japanese light lanterns for the dead.It seems like every year it gets better and better, with more people, more Kimonos and more FOOD!
Edamame.  Yum yum.

A Japanese Fan Dance.

Some of the women were wearing the most beautiful and colorful Kimonos.

Heheh.  It was pretty cool watching this guy shoot this huge bow and arrow.  When he had it completely drawn, his arm started to shake.  I bet I couldn’t draw it even half way!

I LOVED this little girls cute, chubby cheeks.

I also loved her adorable goldfish Kimono.

This was so much fun to watch.  All of the children loved to dance to the Taiko; they would dance and jump and do all sorts of goofy things.  Some just stood there and didn’t know what to do!

Isn’t this woman beautiful?  I have no idea who she is, but she was dancing and it caught my eye. :)

*Sigh* What a beautiful day.

Art-A-Whirl

What a beautiful weekend for the annual NE Minneapolis Art-A-Whirl.  It’s so fun to run around the Minneapolis art district and see all of the eclectic people and the art that comes with them.  Here is just a little bit of what I saw:

One of the artists I was able to meet was Daniel Alan Young.  He’s loved art and made art since he was very young, and this year was his debut at Art-A-Whirl!  I loved the vibrant colors he used for his work.

There were even floral arrangements!

How about a flower kimono? :)

There were many different types of art.  Paintings:

Drawings:

Metal Work:

Sculptures:

One of my favorites. :)  Photography!

This was also one of my favorite showcases.  Lynn Speaker makes this dramatic art from gunpowder!

Spray Painted Murals:

Musical art:

And bike art!  Heheh.  My husband Scott liked this.  (He loves bikes.)  This bike is for the Winter… can you guess why? :) 4″ tires!

There was so much more going on, but waaaay too much to document.  So, you’ll have to make sure and mark Art-A-Whirl on your calendars for next Spring.  It’s a really fun event that showcases the amazing talent of our local artists.  I hope to see you there next year!
