Boston + St. Paul = True Love

So, here are two of the sweetest, funniest, most wonderful people that I know.  Thomas (the mighty mighty Bostonian) and Kristin (the St. Paul beauty) are still newlyweds (oh yes, you are!) and wanted their Christmas pictures taken as a family with their dog, Shelby.  How cute are they?  Here is Kristin and her puppy:

Favorite!  I don’t think it was Shelby’s favorite, though!

I hope these made you smile!

Love,

Kassy :)

The Giving Tree

I was talking with my co-worker, Martha, a few weeks ago and she was talking about the spectacular tree that is decorated every Winter here in Minneapolis.  She said it was just south of Mall of America, right off of 77 heading south.  So I said I would try to take a look one day.  Well, just this past weekend, Scott and I were coming back from somewhere (I don’t remember where!) and we took a wrong turn and ended up on 77 heading south and we were like, “Oh, we need to turn around!”  But then I remembered what Martha said and was like, “Well, we’re here already, let’s just go and see if we can find this amazing tree.”  Right off the highway, we saw it peering through the surrounding trees and buildings.  “Wow.”  Is all we could say.  We turned off and found the road leading to the tree and my oh my, was it something else.

We’ve gone to visit twice now, and every time there are people there, just gazing at the tree.  It’s funny… even though the highway is one block away, you can’t tell.  By the tree, it’s peaceful.  Thoughtful.  Hopeful.  With all of the people who drive by, it still seems to be quiet and people stand in awe.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.  May the New Year bring hope and light.

Love,

Kassy :)

Ready for Christmas!

I had such a great day last Saturday… it was busy, but in all of that busyness, Scott and I were able to take a few hours to go get our tree and decorate!  Hooray!  Christmas is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year.  I love the snow, the hot cocoa, the music, the treats and just the sights and sounds of the holiday.  As I was waiting for Scott to get home so that we could get the tree, I spied this beautiful cardinal in our bush outside our window.  Unfortunately, he didn’t stay around long, but I kind of got a shot of him!

Once we got our tree, we poured ourselves a glass of wine and began decorating. One of the last things we like to put on are these special ornaments from a gentleman named Gene who used to work in my family’s store basement. Gene was extremely talented at woodworking, but not many people knew about him. He made these delicate walnut ornaments for me one year, and the next Christmas, Gene passed away. These are hung every year in memory of him. Aren’t they beautiful?

Scott and I put these two cute little Christmas animals on our branches. One is supposed to be Scott and the other one is me. Can you guess which one is which? :)

May you all have a safe and happy Christmas and may Christ’s light shine brightly through the story of his birth.

Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love’s sake becamest poor;
Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire-paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love’s sake becomes poor.

Kassy :)
